Becky Myers is a retired DCSD teacher with over 25 years educational experience. She was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1993 Becky, her husband, and family moved to Castle Rock where her two children attended elementary, middle, and high school.
She served as the Family and Consumer Science teacher at Ranch View Middle School (RVMS). She was hired as the Teacher Librarian and transformed the library into three separate teaching spaces with over 70 computers. As a result, the Ranch View library was recognized by the Colorado Department of Education as a “Power Library” and then in 2012-2014 a “Highly Effective Library”. She increased education enhancing activities at the library; challenging her students to perform at their highest potential.
Becky, cares about students, parents, her community and focuses on building relationships with people across the spectrum. She loves people and loves learning. Her “teacher’s heart” motivated her to run for the school board to continue to serve the students and community in the school district she loves. She feels there is no single approach, or one size fits all method to teaching and she will focus on empowering the district and teachers to adapt and implement techniques geared to each student’s ability, strengths and personality.
Becky is running for the Douglas County School District Board of Education from District D. Her natural organization and project management skills will enable her to work with others to focus on getting the job done.
Becky continues to substitute teach, is the treasurer for her church, loves her kids in children’s ministry, watches her grandchildren, and sews for an upholstery business.
